Bravo Newbie Kenny Martin Hints at ‘Interesting Dynamics’ With Lindsay Hubbard on ‘In the City’ (Exclusive)

In the City might just feature a clash between Bravo newcomer Kenny Martin and Lindsay Hubbard.

“I think for this group and this cast I bring a lot of energy, but I’m a strong personality,” Kenny told Us Weekly exclusively ahead of the new Bravo show’s premiere on Tuesday, May 19. “When I feel like either myself or someone I care about might be under fire, I can be very direct. It makes for a lot of very interesting dynamics, particularly between Lindsay and I.”

He added, “At some point, I think it’s nice to have someone on the cast that’s not afraid of Lindsay Hubbard.”

When the In the City trailer dropped last month, it appeared that there was some tension between Kenny and Lindsay, 39, while filming the show. One clip showed Kenny saying he gets “I hate men” vibes from Lindsay while another showed the two discussing how they both “need therapy.”

Kenny told Us that viewers will “get a real sense as to who I am” a few episodes into the season.

“I view myself as the guy that wasn’t supposed to be here,” Kenny explained. “I came from nothing, and in some way made it here and [in] some way ended up on Bravo.”

He continued, “I’m going to be me, and I’m going to be very straightforward, not mince any words. Hopefully, people connect with that. Also my story and vulnerability, because I lay it all out there.”

Bravo’s official bio of Kenny refers to him as “a self-made real estate investor and venture capitalist.” He’s friends with Kyle Cooke and invested in Loverboy. The network also called Kenny “the blunt truth-teller who’s never afraid to challenge those closest to him.”

Kenny told Us that the idea for him to become a reality star “has come up from time to time over the years,” noting that there were “some conversations” about Summer House and Winter House previously.

“The timing now just seemed right,” he said. “Everything has led to this point. I feel like it’s an opportunity to have a unique experience and build community, which I feel like everyone’s looking for right now.”

Kenny added, “For me in particular, that’s where I’m at in life. Why not just try it, give it a shot, see what happens? It could be fun.”

He admitted to being “more nervous” than expected ahead of the show’s debut.

“There was a lot in there. A lot of drama, and a lot of emotions. A lot of big life events,” Kenny teased. “It’s nerve-wracking to actually be at the point where that stuff’s going to start coming out.”

In the City premieres on Bravo Tuesday, May 19, at 9:00 p.m.
