The cast of Don't Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 isn't lying: ABC has pulled the half-hour comedy from its lineup midway through its second season, series star James Van Der Beek announced via Facebook Jan. 22. The actor's costars, Krysten Ritter and Dreama Walker, confirmed the show's cancellation via Twitter.

"Sad to say ABC has pulled Don't Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 and will not be airing the eight remaining episodes any time soon. Translation: we've basically been cancelled. I know most of you watched us on your own time schedule and that the competitive network scheduling game is irrelevant to you, but network TV is a business dictated by Nielson ratings. And while that's an antiquated business model, it's the only one they've got. For now," said Van Der Beek, who played a fictionalized and over-the-top version of himself.

"My sincerest thanks to all who tuned in. I hope you had as much fun watching as we did making it. I can't imagine a more fun work environment with better people. But onto the next!" the 35-year-old Dawson's Creek alum continued. "And please, no bashing ABC. While I'm sure no one there will tell you they think they nailed it when it came to programming us this year, you've got to give them props for ever picking us up in the first place. They tried for something new and edgy, and I respect them for it."

The series, which premiered in April 2012, struggled in the ratings. In January 2013, ABC began airing new episodes of Don't Trust the B—- in Apt. 23 (and the network's similarly struggling sitcom Happy Endings) on both Sunday and Tuesday nights.

"My beloved fans, sad to confirm that it is true. Don't Trust the B— in Apt. 23 has been cancelled," tweeted Ritter, 31, who played the show's titular b—-, Chloe. "Thank you so much for your support. I love you."

Added Gossip Girl alum Walker, 26, who played Ritter's uptight roommate, June: "Beyond grateful for two seasons to be proud of on Apt. 23. Thanks for all of your love and support."

Fans of the show responded by creating a Facebook petition. "Thanks for all the kinds words, guys," Van der Beek wrote, sharing a link to the page. "I've also been told you can vent here."

ABC has yet to officially announce that the series has been cancelled.
