Jennifer Aniston Crashes ‘Saturday Night Live’ to Critique Its Portrayal of Friends’ Rachel

Do I sound like that? Jennifer Aniston crashed Saturday Night Live on Saturday, December 3, to critique Vanessa Bayer’s portrayal of her Friends character, Rachel Green, during "Weekend Update."

Bayer, dressed as Rachel circa–early '90s in a black crewneck sweater and jean overalls, joined "Weekend Update" host Colin Jost at the table to shed some light on why '90s sitcoms are making a comeback.

“Oh, Colin. Yeah, hi. Oh. Oh, yeah, um, I’m, uh, you know, good! Oh, yeah, you know, the '90s are great,” Bayer said, mimicking Rachel’s scattered way of speaking. “You go to work, you go on dates, you go to cafes with friends and you all sit facing camera. Yeah!”

Bayer-as-Rachel then pointed out the phenomenon that happened frequently on Friends and other '90s-era sitcoms, where the scene would cut abruptly to an outside wide shot of the pals’ apartments.

Just at that moment, the real-life Aniston, 47, rolled up to the desk to cheers and shouts from the audience.

“Vanessa, what are you doing? Can you just drop that for a second. Vanessa, Vanessa, come on,” she said as Bayer continued to keep up the Rachel act. Finally, Bayer relented.

“Sorry, Jen. What are you doing here?” she asked. Aniston pointed out that the SNL cast member had been texting her for “the last 12 days.”

“Listen, honey, I know you love Friends, and we had such a great time making a movie together, but you gotta really try to stop texting me every day,” Aniston told Bayer, adding, “You know, I think Friends was, like, 5 million and five years ago, so I think we just gotta move on.”

“Well, I dunno,” Bayer replied. “I just thought because I do this great bit as Rachel, so …”
