To say Jessica Lowndes' 90210 character has been through the ringer is an understatement.
"She had a baby, a drug addiction, a lesbian love affair, stole a dead guy's music and turned into a monster," the 23-year-old actress recalled during a recent visit to Us Weekly's New York City offices.
When The CW soap returns January 17, Lowndes hopes fans will see a "softer side" of her 90210 alter-ego Adriana Tate-Duncan.
"It's been challenging as an actress to win back the viewers' trust," Lowndes explained. "They don't know what she's going to do next. Throughout the rest of the season she will definitely show her true colors."
That doesn't mean things will get any easier for her character. Lowndes hinted that "there's going to be a nice little twist" involving the baby she gave up for adoption in Season 1.
"It's definitely something that weighs on her all the time. You don't really see a lot of it," Lowndes told Us. "She's kind of put on a happy face and pretended like everything's fine, but it's the reason she was so fame-driven last year."
90210 airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
