Jonathan Bennett is hoping for a mini Mean Girls reunion on General Hospital.
“I’m waiting for the day that Lindsay Lohan comes in and plays my sister for, like, a six-week run on General Hospital,” Bennett, 45, exclusively told Us while attending the 2026 Daytime Emmys at The Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on Friday, October 30.
The Finding Mr. Christmas host continued, “We could be brother and sister finally. We could do it on daytime and give us a crazy storyline where we’re like, I don’t know, like part of some undercover agent thing. We could be undercover agents for a secret something. I don’t know. I don’t write it, but someone will figure out something really cool.”
Bennett and Lohan, 40, met while filming the 2004 comedy Mean Girls, in which they played Aaron Samuels and Cady Heron, respectively. The former costars last shared the screen in 2019, when Bennett hosted Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club: After the Show following the premiere of Lohan’s MTV reality series.
Bennett joined General Hospital as Detective Joe Fitzpatrick in May, marking his return to daytime television after he previously played J.R. Chandler in All My Children from 2001 to 2002.
“I did that for a couple years, and then I left daytime and started doing Mean Girls and Hallmark and Food Network and all the things I’ve done, and then I got the call to come back to daytime on General Hospital, and I couldn’t pass it up because I have such a soft spot in my heart for the people that do daytime TV,” he exclusively told Us at the awards show on Friday.
Bennett continued, “It is such a grinding job. They absolutely crush their performances, and the fans are some of the best in the world. Like, I love the daytime fans. So getting to come back and step into the institution that is General Hospital, like, who doesn’t want to be a part of General Hospital? I’m like, ‘Sign me up. What do I get to play? A cop or a doctor?’ They go, ‘You’re a cop.’ I said, ‘Give me a gun and a badge. I’m ready for my close-up.’”
Though Lohan hasn’t worked with Bennett in years, the former child star made her acting comeback in 2022 with her Netflix film Falling for Christmas. She went on to lead the streamer’s 2024 films Irish Wish and Our Little Secret, as well as Disney’s Freakier Friday in 2025. Lohan is also set to appear in the upcoming Hulu limited series Count My Lies and the Netflix romantic comedy Return to You.
Lohan looked back at her accomplishments while celebrating her 40th birthday in July.
“Grateful for every chapter that brought me here,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “For the lessons, the laughter, the love, the unexpected turns, and the people who’ve stood beside me through it all. This next decade feels different. More grounded. More intentional. More joyful. Here’s to family, friendship, new beginnings, and making the most beautiful memories yet.”
