Show Us what you’re workin’ with, Katharine McPhee! In a preview for the Thursday, April 7, episode of Lip Sync Battle, the singer-actress gets gangster for an impassioned rendition of Mystikal’s 2000 smash “Shake It Fast.”
In the hilarious clip, a casually dressed McPhee, 32, commands the stage all by herself as she shakes her derriere to the early-aughts hip-hop jam. Confident in her unexpectedly brilliant rap performance, the Smash and American Idol alum pulls cash out of her bra and makes it rain over the audience.
When the Scorpion star throws in a hair flip, the camera pans to host LL Cool J and McPhee’s opponent, Jason Derulo, who are clearly into McPhee’s sexy move. Even cohost Chrissy Teigen — whose candid facial expressions never lie — looks impressed from her post at the DJ booth.
While McPhee nailed it, she will face off against Derulo, 26, who does a spot-on impression of Rick James, as seen in a previously released clip. Clad in a long wig and plunging jumpsuit, the “Talk Dirty” singer gets his groove on as he expertly mimes the lyrics to the late R&B superstar’s iconic ‘80s track “Super Freak.”
Lip Sync Battle airs on Spike Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET.
