Sorry, Miss Piggy — Kermit the Frog has officially moved on. The famed Muppets formally announced their split on Aug. 4 after 40 years (!!) together, but as a clip from the pair’s upcoming ABC series shows, there’s been trouble in paradise for quite some time.
Piggy “made my life a bacon-wrapped hell on Earth,” Kermie laments in a teaser trailer for ABC’s upcoming Muppets fall series.
The new Muppet series will follow Miss Piggy’s latest acting venture, a show which Kermit is executive producing. “I have no problem working with my ex, okay? It’s fine. Dating moi is like flying close to the sun,” Miss Piggy told reporters after her emotional split announcement at L.A.’s Television Critics Association press panel. “It was inevitable that Kermit would drop down to the ground while I stayed in the heavens.”
Though they’ve agreed to see other people, Kermit’s new beauty, Denise, is rubbing Piggy the wrong way. Us Weekly scored behind-the-scenes footage from the set of Piggy’s new show, where she can be seen pushing Denise out of the way to get the best angle while taking a selfie with muppet Janet, the lead guitarist for Electric Mayhem.
