Say it ain't so! Laura Prepon has not signed on as a series regular for season 2 of Netflix's Orange is the New Black, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
As first reported from Buzzfeed, the 33-year-old actress will be returning for only a handful of episodes in the show's 13-episode season 2 in order to wrap up her story line. The actress is not tied down to the series and has not signed a contract.
The former That 70s Show actress plays Alex Vause, a drug dealer with a romantic past with Piper, played by Taylor Schilling, in the instantly beloved Lionsgate TV-produced drama about a women's prison.
Though it hasn't been revealed what is in store for her character, there still is a chance Prepon will return. "Our season is still developing and nothing is confirmed," a Netflix rep said in a statement.
Based on Piper Kerman's memoir, adapted by Weeds creator Jenji Kohan, Orange is the New Black premiered in July 2013 but was renewed for a second season weeks beforehand in late June. The ensemble cast, including Jason Biggs, Natasha Lyonne, Pablo Schreiber and Kate Mulgrew are currently filming for season 2.
