Lauren Manzo Reveals She Kept Her Baby Plans a Secret From Mom Caroline to Avoid ‘Pressure’

Need-to-know basis! Lauren Manzo reveals in Manzo'd With Children's Sunday, September 18, episode that she kept her baby plans a secret from her mom, Caroline Manzo.

The Bravo series' preview clip, exclusive to Us Weekly, shows Lauren telling cousin Candice Laurita that she and husband Vito Scalia — who tied the knot in July 2015 — are trying for a bundle of joy. When Laurita asks if Caroline, 55, knows about this development, the salon owner reveals that Laurita is the only person she's told so far.

"I cannot imagine what my mother-in-law and my mother would put us through if they knew," Lauren, 28, tells the camera. "I cannot deal with the pressure, so I'm just going to make it a big surprise when it happens."

When Laurita says she's worried that Lauren is too focused on getting pregnant immediately, the Real Housewives of New Jersey alum replies, "I don't think it needs to happen now, but I haven't been using any kind of birth control for seven months. That's what's scary."

"Vito and I weren't doing anything not to get pregnant for the first seven months [of our marriage]," Lauren says to the camera. "My biggest fear, even from when I was younger, was maybe I'm not going to be able to have a baby."

"What if I can't?" the reality TV mainstay continues. "So now I'm at that point in my life that I'm about to find out."

Luckily, things worked out for the best, as Lauren and Scalia announced Thursday, September 15, that they are expecting their first child in early 2017. "I guess it’s true that everything really does happen when you least expect it," she told Us exclusively about the happy news.
