LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian's new VH1 reality show premiered on Thursday, July 17

LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian want to take over your living room with their new reality series, LeAnn & Eddie, which premiered on VH1 on Thursday, July 17. The pair—who made headlines for getting together while they were still married (to Dean Sheremet and Brandi Glanville, respectively) in 2009—opened up about their past and shared what their lives are like today.

In case you missed it, here are five things to know about the premiere:

1. Straight to the Point
Rimes, 31, and Cibrian, 41, wasted no time airing out their laundry. The couple introduced themselves to viewers and quickly noted that, yes, they were both married to other people when they met, but Rimes is not a homewrecker. "Look, everyone thinks they really know how it is with us, but there are two sides to every story and this is ours," Cibrian said.

2. Their Past Still Follows Them
As shown in a previous clip, the couple argued about Cibrian's ex minutes before arriving at his movie premiere for The Best Man Holiday. Despite her wanting him to, Cibrian told Rimes that he would not address divorce rumors or speak about his ex on the red carpet.

3. LeAnn Gets Daring!
The country singer headed to a tattoo parlor with her hubby to get a feather on her ribcage, but the conversation quickly turned sexual. When she began to groan in pain, Cibrian joked that she's never made noises like that with him. She quipped back that he's not doing something right.

4. The Couple Plays Hard
Despite Rimes' initial reservations, the blonde star eventually agreed to go skydiving with Cibrian. The twosome embraced after touching the ground and Cibrian said how proud he was of her.

5. Moving On!
The couple seem to just want to live normal lives—but on TV. Rimes noted this while promoting the series at a Television Critics Association event on July 12. "I think I've succumbed to the fact that I've tried to change people's minds and I don't feel like I need to anymore. People are going to believe what they want to believe," Rimes told Us Weekly.

"This show gave us an opportunity, like I said, to take back our lives in a way and show a different side of us than what people really believe," she continued. "Look, if their minds are changed or opened or whatever, that's wonderful. But if not, I don't think we're really set up to change anyone's mind."

LeAnn & Eddie airs Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. EST on VH1.
