Strap on your kneepads! Nickelodeon is making our dreams come true by reviving the ’90s game show Legends of the Hidden Temple. The twist? The reboot will be a TV movie and not a game show.
The cable network announced the news in a press release about their upcoming projects. The TV movie Hidden Temple will focus on three siblings trying to stay alive as they go up against dangerous physical and mental challenges.
Hidden Temple will include many of the same features as Legends of the Hidden Temple, such as the talking head Olmec and the Steps of Knowledge entrance. It will also give a nod to a green monkey, red jaguar and silver snake. Contestants on the beloved series wore team T-shirts that featured these animals.
Legends of the Hidden Temple ran for three seasons, from 1993 to 1995, and was hosted by Kirk Fogg. Many teams of two competed each season, but the real victor was whoever could retrieve an artifact in an obstacle course before time ran out.
Hidden Temple is set to premiere later this year.
