Love Island USA’s Kayda Bosse appears to have been removed from a women’s charity campaign after the season 8 reunion show aired.
“Step Up is committed to creating a community where women and girls feel seen, heard and supported. We understand that the recent Love Island reunion brought to light moments and conversations that have understandably caused hurt and concern within our community,” the Step Up Women’s Network wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, September 1. “While this post was created before the reunion aired, we understand that the context has changed.”
According to reports, the nonprofit originally posted several female influencer supporters with a polaroid of each woman and a motivational quote underneath.
Kayda, 22, was part of the lineup when the campaign first launched. Her picture, however, has since been removed.
“We see your comments, hear your concerns and are taking them to heart to ensure that we can stay true to our mission – creating spaces where women feel seen, heard and empowered,” the Step Up Women’s Network said in its post. “Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their perspective with us. We are listening and will continue striving to create and maintain spaces where every woman and girl feels respected, valued and empowered 🧡.”
Us has reached out to Kayda’s team and the Step Up Women’s Network for additional comment.
While it’s unclear which specific moment in the Love Island USA reunion caused the nonprofit to pivot, Kayda got the Internet talking after she questioned Jaiden Bacciocco’s actions with Caleb McDaniel once cameras wrapped.
Some viewers labeled Kadya a “mean girl” due to the way she interacted with some of her former Islanders, following which she addressed the accusations.
“I don’t think I was,” she said on the Tuesday episode of the “In Your Dreams” podcast. “I just stand on business, and people don’t like that.”
During the taping, hosted by Andy Cohen and Ariana Madix, Kayda also had the opportunity to share an update on her relationship status with Zach Georgiou.
The pair confirmed they are “dating” and consider themselves exclusive. At the same time, both parties clarified that they don’t refer to each other as girlfriend and boyfriend since they haven’t had the chance to spend too much time together outside of the villa in Fiji.
Reunion show drama aside, Step Up has been able to share its message to a wider audience after the season wrapped.
The organization believes “girls deserve to define and pursue success on their terms. By bringing girls together in inspired spaces – on and offline – we spark exploration and discussion of what’s possible.”
Step Up added, “ With structured support and access to a strong community, we guide girls towards their unique goals: first, by identifying those goals and then, building the roadmap to get there.”
Love Island USA is streaming now on Peacock, with season 9 set to premiere next summer with a whole new cast.
