Lydia Plath is setting the record straight on her move to Colorado, claiming her husband, Zac Wyse, didn’t steal her away from her reality TV family.
“My husband didn’t ‘take me away from my family,’” Lydia, 22, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, June 3, alongside a video of herself exploring the Colorado mountains. “He brought me home.”
The Welcome to Plathville star revealed, “I’m still pinching myself everyday. The mountains have always been calling and now I get to call them home.”
Lydia chose to have Ella Langley’s “Loving Life Again” playing in the background of the outdoor video, seemingly confirming that she’s in a happy place with Zac, 24, in the Centennial State.
Lydia, who married Zac in February 2025, further explained in the caption her decision to leave Florida for Colorado one year after her wedding, noting she still loves her parents, exes Kim Plath and Barry Plath, and her eight siblings.
“Yes my family is home too❤️,” Lydia wrote via Instagram, clearing the air about her relationship with the group. “I talk to them every day and can’t wait for them to visit.”
The majority of the family resides in Cairo, Georgia, where the Plath farm is located. Lydia and Zac, meanwhile, settled in Tallahassee, Florida, following their 2025 wedding. They announced in May that they were relocating to Colorado, which is where they first met and fell in love.

“I always knew from a young age that I wasn’t going to stay there forever,” Lydia said of her hometown. “The mountains have always had my heart, and when Zac and I were engaged, I was planning on moving to Colorado.”
She further explained that their timeline shifted once they got married, noting that Zac “knew I wasn’t ready to move away from my family just yet. Especially my younger sisters🥹❤️ So he moved to FL with me and that was the right decision for a season.”
Lydia shared, “But when the timing was right, we gladly came back to Colorado and I couldn’t be happier!🥹✨❤️🏔️🫎💛.”
Lydia’s message comes after Welcome to Plathville fans have witnessed her and Zac’s ups and downs with her family on season 8 of the series.
During the Tuesday, June 2, episode, Lydia and Zac were accused of criticizing her sister Moriah Plath’s way of life as well as some of her other siblings who drink alcohol or engage in activities that the couple don’t deem fit for a God-loving person.
“You [said you] didn’t approve of the games that she plays, like, the raunchy card game and the movies or TV that she watches. That it ‘doesn’t honor God,’” Kim, 53, told Lydia during a road trip. “That’s what I was told. So this is your chance to correct me.”

Lydia claimed she had already cleared the air with Moriah, 23, and sister Amber Plath, who was also present for the family trip to Montana to see Moriah.
Lydia later admitted that Moriah having alcohol in her home when Amber, 17, was a minor and watching TV with “more F-bombs in one episode than I hear at work in a week,” did “bother” her and Zac.
Despite the drama on screen, Lydia has maintained that her and Zac’s decision to move to Colorado has always been part of their life plan.
“We made it to Colorado!!!💛🏔️ I’m so grateful for the 15 months we spent in Tallahassee and close to my family but Colorado has always had my heart,” she wrote via Instagram in May, after arriving in town. “And when Zac and I met, we were originally gonna live in Colorado. But last minute we felt it was best to stay in Tallahassee a while longer.”
She recalled, “And looking back, that was the right decision and I wouldn’t have it any other way.🤍I’m so gonna miss sleepovers with my sisters🥹evenings at the farm with my mom❤️ and Sunday afternoon games with dad🩵.”
Lydia concluded, “But for now, I’m gonna enjoy every adventure Colorado has for us and can’t wait for everyone to come visit🤗.”
Welcome to Plathville airs on TLC Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET.
