While Taylor Sheridan‘s Landman was hit with some filming delays, his other hit series The Madison is preparing production on season 3 — before season 2 is even released.
“It was mostly nice to shoot a second season before anyone had seen the first season, just because I think sometimes the show comes out and the vibes change on set because everyone’s kind of like the thing you’re making has been consumed,” Kevin Zegers exclusively told Us at the UFC 331 on Paramount+ red carpet. “So, having made the second now, we’re going back to make the third at the beginning of next year.”
Zegers, 42, who plays Cade, was “so happy with how the show was received,” adding, “You never really know. You kind of know with Taylor, but it’s still kind of where you never know if people are gonna resonate with it. Clearly, it had an impact, which makes me happy.”
The Madison, which premiered in March, follows the Clyburn family from New York City, who relocate to the Madison River valley of southwest Montana for emotional recovery following a tragedy.
Kurt Russell and Michelle Pfeiffer star in the series alongside Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett, Alaina Pollack and Amiah Miller as members of the Clyburn family. Ben Schnetzer, Zegers, Rebecca Spence and Danielle Vasinova make up the rest of the cast.
Before season 1 premiered, it was confirmed that the Paramount+ series had already filmed season 2 — likely in order to accommodate Russell’s schedule. The Madison was subsequently renewed for a third season, which Vasinova, 44, told Us starts filming at the “top of 2027.”
“I got cast in the show back in 2024, and our first season came out in 2026, and then season 2 is going to come out top of 2027,” Vasinova teased. “And we’ll be back shooting season 3 for top of 2027 as well, so stay tuned.”
Zegers expressed excitement at the way the cast is kept on their toes about what is next.
“Our show is maybe a little different because Taylor writes it all at once. So we generally get a big chunk together because it’s six episodes a season, so it’s not a big and long-running kind of thing each season,” he explained. “But I like it.”
The actor added: “The characters are really what you got to figure out, and then what unfolds in [the] series is kind of like, you know, you just adapt to whatever he writes for you. But as long as you come in ready to go, it’s pretty fun and easy.”
Zegers referred to his ongoing collaboration with Sheridan as a privilege.
“I’ve known Taylor for a long time personally since he was just an actor, and I’m so happy with his success. It’s obviously an incredible story, and I’m happy to know him. But for him to find something that I could be useful for him was a huge compliment,” he added. “There’s a certain amount of trust that he has with whoever he hires because he doesn’t baby you or micromanage you.”
Zegers continued, “The compliments with him are the scripts. So, as we’ve been continuing to be in the second season, it’s like you flip open a new script and you’re like, ‘Oh, I got a bunch to do.’ That’s as close as you’re gonna get with Taylor to a huge pat on the back. So every time I open it up and I see Cade and I get to see the fun stuff I get to do, it’s a huge compliment.”
Vasinova has a similar outlook. “He’s a living legend. He’s a true pioneer. I have so much admiration and love and respect for that man,” she told Us.
The Madison is currently streaming on Paramount+.
