Is the marriage all wet? Lillian and Tom‘s life together as newlyweds gets off to an inauspicious start in Married at First Sight‘s Tuesday, August 2, episode, as seen in Us Weekly‘s exclusive sneak peek.
The FYI unscripted series’ preview clip shows the pair — who are soon to meet for the first time at the altar — reacting to the heavy rain that is pouring down during their wedding.
“I’m nervous — I’m getting shaky,” Tom, 28, tells the camera. “I’m marrying a complete stranger, I have no idea what she looks like, and it’s raining cats and dogs. It’s a little bummer.”
His bride-to-be is likewise distraught about the inclement weather, as viewers see her veil almost fall all the way off her head as she struggles to make her way down the aisle under an umbrella.
“As a little girl, I’ve always imagined what my wedding would be like, but I never pictured getting married in the rain, especially to a stranger, and here I am,” Lillian, 24, says to the camera. “My heart is pounding — I’m freaking out.”
The realtor opens up about the fact that her dad had previously abandoned her family to start a new one, meaning he won’t be a part of this big moment in her life.
“It’s really hard and very sad to know that my father won’t give me away,” she tearfully continues. “I want this day to be perfect. There’s been so many bad omens surrounding this wedding. I’m not going to let it stop me from trying to find love — I want to find that person! I am so ready to meet my husband. Hopefully, he’s just as committed as I am.”
