Get a room, you two! Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth steamed up the stage at the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday, Nov. 22, when they finished their duet of “Marvin Gaye” with a major — and we mean major — makeout session.
Trainor, 21, began the performance solo, singing part of “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” before stripping off her black trench coat to reveal a form-fitting sparkly dress. With Puth, 23, rocking out on the piano, the two segued into “Marvin Gaye,” which features lyrics like “Let’s Marvin Gaye and get it on.”
In the final moments of the song, Puth left his piano and joined the “All About That Bass” singer at the front of the stage, where they proceeded to engage in a passionate (and very prolonged!) smooch, much to the delight of the crowd.
The duo previously locked lips while filming the video for the track, but their actual kiss wasn’t shown on camera. The “Dear Future Husband” songstress posted a behind-the-scenes clip of the makeout via Instagram, and dished to MTV all about the sexy scene.
“There were, like, 40 people there and his parents were in the greenroom — and so we had to make out a bunch of times. Everyone was cheering because I was so good at it, and we went back to the greenroom and I was like, ‘What’s up, Mom and Dad?’ So awkward,” she joked.
“See You Again” singer Puth had a different take on it. “The word ‘awkward’ never came to mind because Meghan’s a very good kisser, so I knew it wouldn’t be any problem there or anything like that,” he told MTV. “I have no problem kissing people in front of other people, but my parents, I’m like, that’s a doozy. Let’s see how this works itself out.”
