Push it real good! Mike Tyson is going all out for his upcoming match against Terry Crews on Spike TV's Lip Sync Battle. In a sneak peek of the episode released earlier this week, the former heavyweight champion goes for the knockout punch with a high-energy rendition of Salt-n-Pepa's inescapable 1987 hit "Push It," complete with lots of jumping and fist-pumping.
Tyson's commitment to the song is evident in his costume: skintight leather pants, high-tops, and a red and yellow varsity jacket adorned with the hip-hop group's trademark labels and patches. His actual lip-syncing skills aren't all that convincing, but what he lacks in precision, he more than makes up for in enthusiasm.
Crews, for his part, is a worthy competitor, as seen in a separate clip released on Wednesday, April 22. In it, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star gets the crowd going with an impressive take on Run-D.M.C.'s 1984 hit "Sucker MC's."
"Hey, Mike and I have been friends for a long, long time. That's why it's gonna hurt me so bad when I destroy [his] ass!" Crews jokes in a pre-show tease.
Not content to let someone else get the last word, Tyson pipes in with his own trash talk. "Terry, tonight, your butt is grass, buddy," he quips. "You're a goner."
Lip Sync Battle airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on Spike.
