He would never! Right? On Wednesday, May 20, Modern Family will conclude season 6 in a laugh-out-loud night of comedy that is sure to feature Phil-isms, Glorias, err, “girls,” and plenty of cute shots of Stella the Frenchie. But star Eric Stonestreet also told Us Weekly that there will be a dramatic side to Cam and Mitchell’s story line.
“Cam suspects Mitchell is having an affair, so he's trying to get to the bottom of that,” Stonestreet told Us while raising awareness for the Ready. Raise. Rise. campaign.
Naturally, there will be a comedic element to Cam’s quest for the truth.
“All the while Cam has a very unfortunately speech impediment due to some braces and dental work,” the Golden Globe nominee continued, noting that to properly tape the speech impediment scenes, he had to place a tray in his mouth. “Unfortunately they wrote a lot of ’S’ words. I found out that the trick was about keeping a lot of water in my mouth. Keeping hydrated.”
It looks like the entire Pritchett/Dunphy/Tucker clan will be involved in Mitchell’s potential affair.
“I think people's favorite episodes of the show are when we're all together, when everyone is interacting,” Stonestreet added. “This episode is no exception, there's a lot of that. It's incredibly funny.”
The Modern Family season 6 finale airs Wednesday, May 20 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
