The morning of Wednesday, Aug. 26, WDBJ TV reporter Alison Parker and photographer Adam Ward were shot and killed during a live, on-air broadcast from a town outside of Roanoke, Va. The alleged gunman, who was reportedly a former employee of the station, later shot himself and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Several hours later, USA confirmed that it had decided to postpone the episode one week due to similarities to the shooting.

"The previously filmed season finale of Mr. Robot contains a graphic scene similar in nature to today’s tragic events in Virginia," the network said in a press release. "Out of respect to the victims, their families and colleagues, and our viewers, we are postponing tonight’s episode. Our thoughts go out to all those affected during this difficult time."
