Limited costume budget? When the 2015 Oscars returned from a commercial break halfway through the show, host Neil Patrick Harris was "forced" to strip down to his undies, imitating the scene from nominated film Birdman on Sunday, Feb. 22.
In the original clip, Riggan (Michael Keaton) is forced to run through Times Square in his underwear, pushing off fans asking for autographs in a clip that eventually goes viral.
In Harris' spoof, he walked through the halls of the Dolby Theatre, as photographers took his picture. Playing drums in the background was Whiplash star Miles Teller. When Harris passed him, he jokingly cut him off, saying, "Not my tempo" — which was the line of Best Supporting Actor winner J.K. Simmons' Whiplash character Terence Fletcher.
The toned Hedwig and the Angry Inch star, 41, then came onstage in his tighty-whities, sporting an oversized package and declaring, "Acting is a noble profession."
