Better luck next year.
Justin Timberlake and Friends With Benefits costar Mila Kunis didn't hear their names announced at Tuesday morning's Oscar nominations. (Check out the major nominees here.)
Both Timberlake and Kunis earned raves and plenty of buzz for their performances in The Social Network and Black Swan, respectively.
Perhaps the biggest snub: Ryan Gosling, who earned universal praise for his work opposite Michelle Williams in Blue Valentine (Williams and the film both received nods).
Who else was passed over? Golden Globe nominees Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter), Julianne Moore (The Kids Are All Right), Halle Berry (Frankie and Alice) Timberlake's Social Network costar Andrew Garfield plus Paul Giamatti, who won a Golden Globe last week for his turn in Barney's Version.
Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp — whose Golden Globe nominations for critically lambasted The Tourist were a frequent punchline — were also not nominated for this year's Academy Awards, which get underway Feb. 27.
