‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ Recap: Gizelle Bryant Slams Ashley Darby After ‘Disgusting’ Husband Puts End to Ladies’ Trip

Bit of a drag! The Real Housewives of Potomac ladies were on day three of their Bethany Beach girls trip in the Sunday, March 13, episode, and a tidal wave of drama was about to hit — thanks to a surprise guest.

How Many Partners Is Too Many?

The episode kicks off with Gizelle Bryant once again accusing Katie Rost of being “on something” when making out with her boyfriend Andrew at Ashley Darby‘s birthday party. Yawn. This was like the 12,000th time that Katie has had to defend herself for the same boring thing. She was just drunk and making out with her not-yet-fiancé! Not a huge scandal there.

Katie did manage to sling some mud back at Gizelle when she said, “I didn’t ask you why you have multiple sex partners.” Fighting slut-shaming with more slut-shaming, works every time. Gizelle apologized during the old-timey photo shoot (their slapdash plan after being rained out), and all was well. Is there anything that old-timey photo shoots can’t fix?

Uninvited Guest — in His Own Home?

After a long three days of jumping through hoops trying to make sure these women are having a nice time, Ashley was inching toward the end of her rope. “Hosting these bougie bitches is no easy feat,” she said to the camera right before they headed to dinner and a drag show. At dinner, Ashley revealed some juicy prenup information. Of her prenup with wealthy real-estate developer Michael Darby, she said, “It’s pretty good, I get a very handsome … what do you call it? Cash. I get cash … and I get homes.” Cash and homes, a winning combination.

Katie managed to slide in some racial discourse at dinner, saying, “When you try to talk to white men … about what’s going on in the black community, there’s a glossing over. … To not understand or care about that, that’s what gets to me.” Gizelle, whose ex-husband Jamal Harrison Bryant was vocal in the Black Lives Matter community after Freddie Gray‘s death from an injury sustained in Baltimore while in police custody, rebuts in a confessional, saying, “Since when does black lives matter to Katie, when she checks the ‘other’ box.” This references an earlier episode when Katie discussed being biracial and not selecting a specific race in legal forms. Gizelle continued, “She does a lot of trying to fit in with white people. … Guess what? They don’t like you.”

After dinner, the ladies made their way to a drag show, and everyone was having a great time for a literal hot second until Ashley’s husband Michael showed up! If you slowed down the moment where Michael snuck up behind Ashley to surprise her with his presence, you could probably hear a very faint record scratch. While Ashley was surprised to see her hubby, the ladies were instantly not having it — especially Karen Huger, who quickly said, “Ashley, we’re just not comfortable.” Ashley clapped back, “I just don’t really care.” And she really didn’t, saying to the camera, “Karen and Gizelle need to get out of this menopausal mood swing.”

Crikey

After Karen said, “[My husband] Ray would not appreciate it.” Ashley followed up with, “I respect your feelings, Karen — it’s kind of spilled milk.” Sorry not sorry, ladies! Gizelle pleaded, “These are married women — y’all can stay in a hotel.” Spoiler: They didn’t stay in a hotel.

By the time they get back to the house, it seems like the only women up in arms about a man’s presence on the girls’ trip were Karen and Gizelle. A very calm Charisse Jackson Jordan told the camera, “Seriously, girls? Stop. Michael don’t want y’all.” While the girls were sitting on the couch arguing about why Michael shouldn’t be there, Michael Darby quietly sipped his beer in the background. “This is drama that I don’t even understand,” said the baffled Aussie.

As the trip came to a close, it was clear that Karen was abandoning her pet project in getting Ashley welcomed into Potomac society. Karen, the queen of etiquette, said, “This is why you don’t take in strays — they piss all over your carpet anyway.” Gizelle chimed in with, “Crocodile Dundee has taken it a little bit too far. He is creepy and disgusting.”

Tell Us: Were Gizelle and Karen overreacting about Michael showing up to his own house unannounced?

The Real Housewives of Potomac airs on Bravo on Sundays at 9 p.m. EST.
