Whitney Rose teased that her drama with Angie Katsanevas can’t be scrubbed away with a toothbrush after their breach of trust off camera.
Whitney, 40, exclusively told Us on October 15 that following The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s season 7 toothbrush scandal, she learned her lesson about spreading gossip among her castmates, admitting that Angie, 52, spilling newbie Ashley Quai’s secret “solidified it for me.”
“Angie has never broken my trust off camera,” Whitney confessed. “And like I said, I shouldn’t have told her the story, one. But two, I told her to ease her mind, never thinking she would break my trust with that.”
During season 7, episode 3, Angie exposed a secret about Ashley, 44, that Whitney had previously vowed to keep private.
“Whitney told me this secret: that Quai took her fiancé’s toothbrush when she was mad at him, and cleaned the toilet with it, and then put it back,” Angie said during her confessional after telling pal Mary Cosby about the dirty deed. “You could, like, get what’s that thing called? E. coli.”
Angie took it a step further when the women were in San Francisco for a girls’ trip, handing out toothbrushes during the squad’s St. Patrick’s Day pub crawl. When Angie told the group about Ashley’s antics, she was unbothered, replying, “I 100 percent did it, and I would do it again.”
Whitney, however, was in total shock that Angie took something she told her in confidence — as a way to put Angie at ease about adding a new woman to their group — and share it freely.
“That was an off camera private conversation weeks before filming started,” Whitney told Us. “So I never thought she’d break my trust.”
The Wild Rose Beauty founder teased that her and Angie’s tension will only grow as the season progresses as a result of her speaking out of turn about Ashley.
“Wait till the next few episodes. It gets worse,” Whitney revealed. “But I learned my lesson. You know, shame on me.”
The reality star added, “But I honestly didn’t think Angie would make a moment out of it. It almost even slipped my mind that I told her because my intention [in] telling her [was] to make her feel better, not to give her something to weaponize against Quai.”
Despite being hurt by Angie’s actions, Whitney told Us that the pair aren’t fully on the outs. (Both Angie and Whitney are going through divorces after separating from their respective husbands, Shawn Trujillo and Justin Rose, earlier this year.)
Plus, she always has Heather Gay as a confidant when she needs to spill some tea without fear of it coming to light.
“I have Heather. Heather and I still talk to Angie,” Whitney said when asked about who in the cast she remains in contact with most of the time.
When it comes to her friendship with Angie now, Whitney confirmed, “We’re OK. We work through it.”
She joked, “I just won’t tell her anything she can make into a prop, a meme, or you know, a moment.”
