Rihanna Is Checking Into ‘Bates Motel’ in Classic ‘Psycho’ Role: See Her Hilarious Video Announcement!

Norman Bates is about to make Rihanna feel like she's the only girl in the shower! The singer-actress is joining the cast of the A&E drama Bates Motel for its upcoming fifth season, with the show's team announcing the news at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 22.

Rihanna, 28, will play Marion Crane, who was portrayed by Janet Leigh in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film Psycho. Marion meets her demise after Norman — dressed as his mother, Norma — stabs her in a shower scene that has become one of the most iconic moments in film history.

"I am about to check into the Bates Motel very soon," RiRi said in a video that was played during the panel. "Guess what else? Guess who's playing Marion! Yes, so all you Comic-Con fans, all you Bates Motel fans, stay tuned! And excuse my bedroom, I decided it had the best lighting."

It was also announced during the event that the series, which stars Freddie Highmore as Norman, will come to an end after season 5. The show killed off Norma (Vera Farmiga) last season, although she will appear in season 5.

"We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way," executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin said in a statement. "We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate."

Rihanna is best known for her singing career, but she has dabbled in acting, having appeared in 2012's Battleship. She also has a key role in the sci-fi flick Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, which had a panel presentation at Comic-Con this year and hits theaters in 2017.
