The name on everybody's lips is gonna be Rumer! After her successful stint on Dancing With the Stars, Rumer Willis has found one huge next project.
The actress, whose parents are Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, took home the Mirrorball Trophy this past May with her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy, and now, she will be fancy-footing all the way to Broadway. It was announced on Thursday, July 16, that Willis will be playing Roxie Hart in Broadway's Chicago.
The House Bunny star, 26, will make her debut in the long-running show at New York City's Ambassador Theatre on Aug. 18. She will continue her turn as the murderous Roxie in an eight-week limited engagement run, which wraps on Oct. 11.
Willis is preceded in the role of Roxie by Brandy Norwood, who took on the part earlier this year. Other stars who have played the vengeful woman on Broadway include Christie Brinkley, Michelle Williams, Ashlee Simpson, and, of course, Liza Minnelli.
Famously played by Renee Zellweger in the 2002 big-screen adaptation, Roxie Hart stands trial in Chicago for the murder of her lover. She is shown in contrast to vaudeville singer Velma Kelly, who is also facing murder charges in her own right.
Willis steps into the role after previously appearing in the off-Broadway production of Nora and Delia Ephron's Love, Loss And What I Wore. Prior to polishing her dance skills on DWTS, the former child star earned film credits for parts in 1995's Now and Then, 2000's The Whole Nine Yards, and 2009's Sorority Row, and appeared on the small screen with roles in 90210, Pretty Little Liars, and Hawaii Five-0.
