Saved By the Bell Lifetime Movie: Watch the First 5 Minutes of the Unauthorized Story

This clip is a departure from the previous trailers and sneak peeks, which have featured the drama-filled cast of feuding teen actors at each others throats. Instead, in this opening scene, the Saved by the Bell cast sits anxiously in a limo, nervously waiting to see if anyone will show up to a major premiere.

They mostly band together, encouraging one another as the limo pulls up to a roaring crowd. Things take a turn when Dylan Everett (the actor playing Mark-Paul Gosselaar a.k.a. Zack Morris) freezes the crowd and begins one of Morris’ signature monologues.

Saved by the bell
Lifetime’s Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story is narrated by Dustin Diamond, who played the nerdy Screech Powers on the popular sitcom.

Sam Kindseth (the actor playing Dustin Diamond a.k.a. Screech Powers) cuts in, making it clear that this story will be from his perspective. The real-life Diamond, who is an executive producer on the Lifetime movie, penned the book Behind the Bell, which was loosely used for the film’s script.

Since the tell-all book was released in 2009, Diamond has has since clarified that it was written by a ghost writer, who took some of his behind-the-scenes stories out of context.

“I think when this movie comes out, it’s going to surprise people because it’s not salacious, it’s not dirty, it’s not negative,” Diamond told The Daily Beast earlier this month. “It’s embracing all the positive things that happened and clarifying certain things. I think everyone’s going to like it, including the other cast members.”

Watch the clip now! The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story premieres Monday, Sept. 1 at 9 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
