Ian Ziering to the rescue! In Sharknado 3, the United States suffers from yet another of the worst natural disasters to hit Syfy screens — the dreaded shark/tornado combo that has plagued the country since 2013.

But star Cassie Scerbo tells Us Weekly that after three movies, she still doesn't know how to fight off a shark in real life. "Everyone always thinks that we are like the ultimate shark slayers, and we’re like, if Sharknado was real, we would be running in the opposite direction," she says with a laugh.

But in a true shark-related disaster, Ziering would be her pick to defend her. "In real life, Ian," she says. "I’m not taking that! Ian, you can save us all!"

Besides, although Scerbo's character, Nova, is always armed, the actress herself isn't. "The way Nova fights them is with all of her weaponry," she explains. "I don’t usually as Cassie Scerbo carry around half-shotgun, half-sword combined weaponry that I’ve created on my own like Nova! Bombs and crazy things — not really like what I carry in my purse or in the water with me."

Scerbo, 25, went darker for her role in the third movie of the Sharknado franchise — her hair's darker and she's wearing a lot more leather. "I wanted her to be really badass," Scerbo explains, with "a very Lara Croft Tomb Raider feel. Who doesn’t love Angelina Jolie? I was like, you guys, that is totally fine with me. You can just make me baby Angie all day! We’re fine with that."

Nova needed to be fierce to distract from the logistical nightmare that a real sharknado would entail. "In these types of movies, the one thing we say is, it’s rated awesome and you can’t think too deep," Scerbo says. "When you’re making the movie or watching the movie you can’t think logistically, like, how would that actually [work]? That wouldn’t be able to happen; there’s no real plot; it’s just fun and crazy."

Once Scerbo's Nova, Ziering's Fin, and Tara Reid's April fight off their third sharknado, Scerbo has some ideas as to where the next movie (because you know there will be one) should be set.

"Well, being one of the actresses that will possibly be in it, of course I’m like, 'Guys, we should be going to London and Milan! Sharknado should be all over Europe, and maybe take a quick trip to Ibiza,'" she tells Us with a laugh. "I think it’s time to take Sharknado overseas. I think we’ve got enough of the American states and we’ve trashed enough American landmarks. I think it would be really fun to go to Europe, Asia — a different continent where we can destroy some more landmarks with sharks."

Sharknado 3 premieres Wednesday, July 22, at 9 p.m. ET on Syfy.
