Not exactly a relaxing soak in the tub. A big-name cast — including Stana Katic (Castle), Troian Bellisario (Pretty Little Liars) and Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) — stars in Lifetime’s upcoming film Sister Cities, and Us Weekly can exclusively debut the mysterious first trailer.
Sister Cities, premiering Saturday, September 17, is based on Colette Freedman‘s stage play of the same name. The film centers on four estranged sisters who reunite after their mom dies, only to learn a shocking secret about her passing.
Jess Weixler (The Good Wife), Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl), Amy Smart (Justified), Tom Everett Scott (Southland) and Alfred Molina (The Normal Heart) round out the cast. Weaver and Smart both play matriarch Mary Baxter — who was once a globetrotting young dancer — at different stages of her life.
The trailer shows Austin (Weixler) bonding with her mom (Weaver) not long before Mary’s death. Shortly thereafter, Austin’s sisters see their mother’s corpse in the bathroom.
“Mom’s in the tub,” a distraught Baltimore (Bellisario) says. She reluctantly adds, “She looks good.”

Later, Carolina (Katic, in her first post-Castle appearance) suspects that Austin is not being entirely forthright with what she knows about their mom’s passing.
“I don’t think this is mom’s handwriting,” Carolina says about a note she finds. “What happened to mom, Austin? I need to know.”
“You could have done something about it, and you did nothing,” Carolina continues in another particularly tense scene.
Watch the suspenseful trailer above. Sister Cities premieres on Lifetime Saturday, September 17, at 8 p.m. ET.
