Summer House’s Ciara Miller got visibly emotional while discussing the challenges that come with dating — and the importance of female friendships — after navigating the fallout of Amanda Batula and West Wilson‘s public scandal.
During the Saturday, July 11, episode of Love Island USA: Aftersun, Ciara, 30, showed support for Melanie Moreno, whose family didn’t approve of her connection with Sincere Rhea.
“I was in tears when it came to her mom speaking life into her. I’m having chills right now,” Ciara, who was on the show virtually amid filming Summer House, said. “Like, to say that your heart is sacred and to not let a man steal your essence … Oh, my God, I will rewatch that scene forever and ever. I hope I can breathe those same words into my daughter one day.”
Ciara acknowledged that she was “getting emotional.”
“It’s really hard. It’s really hard dating sometimes,” Ciara said. “I don’t know why I’m crying. It’s so hard dating. I feel like you get ripped apart for everything when you’re a girl in your 20s and you’re trying to figure it out.”
She continued: “I feel like I’ve been in Melanie’s position so many instances in my life where you’re like, ‘But I like him.’ And it feels like an uphill battle sometimes. Or you’re working against gravity so hard.”
Ciara was glad to see Melanie have the support of her loved ones.

“But for some people who can’t really talk to their parents about it, it’s so nice to have them ground you in a situation that sometimes you’re unsure about,” she added. “To just remind you who you are — and that’s where you feel like these female friendships are so important. I just thought it was such a beautiful moment. I’m crying now but I was crying with Melanie and her mom while I was watching it.”
Ciara’s reaction comes after Summer House‘s Amanda and costar West announced that they were dating earlier this year. The romance news came months after Kyle Cooke and Amanda confirmed their plans to separate after four years of marriage. Bravo fans, meanwhile, were outraged due to West previously dating Amanda’s best friend Ciara.
Over on Love Island USA, meanwhile, Melanie has attempted to explore a connection with Sincere despite him having interest in multiple other women along the way. Despite being told by both their families that Melanie deserves better, she chose to remain committed heading into the finale.
After weeks of connections, breakups and dramatic moments in the villa, the love experiment will come to an end on Sunday, July 12. The current couples will be broken up into a final four, which America will then vote on.
Similar to past seasons, each pair will get the chance to go on their own date. They will then decide if they want to remain together and write “vows” for each other before finding out who gets crowned the winning couple.
The envelope ceremony will take place on finale night, where the duo who received the highest number of votes from the public are given two envelopes: one for each partner. One envelope contains $100,000, while the other is empty. The partner with the $100,000 envelope chooses whether to share the money with their partner as a test of trust and commitment — or walk away with all of it as a way of choosing the prize over love.
