Tuning in … to something else! It turns out that more people are watching Taylor Swift’s videos than popular network TV shows, a new Nielsen study that was commissioned by Vevo has revealed.
In fact, according to Variety, when 25-year-old Swift dropped her “Bad Blood” video on May 17 last year, the only series that had more viewers than her videos was CBS’s NCIS: Los Angeles.
The publication reports that during that week, a whopping 18 million pairs of eyes checked out the Grammy winner’s various videos after she dropped the one for “Bad Blood,” which has so far garnered more than 822 million — yes, million! — views on YouTube.
Other artists’ videos are also surpassing TV shows in viewers, according to Variety. Take, for instance, Drake, whose videos received 6 million views the week of October 26, when he dropped the video for “Hotline Bling,” which now has 581 million–plus hits.
And when Rihanna released “Bitch Better Have My Money” on July 1 last year, her videos also earned 6 million views that week.
Andrea Zapata, the vice president of research for Vevo, told the publication that fans really dive into musicians’ various videos after watching just one: “It’s actually the catalog that does the heavy lifting.”
