Teen Mom tension! After the season premiere of Teen Mom OG on Monday, January 4, some of the ladies had plenty to say about their onscreen fights and real-life drama. Naturally, the moms took to Twitter to give their sides of the story and to call out others — from exes to costars.
Amber Portwood fired the first online shot, distraught at how fans were perceiving her daughter Leah’s comments about her parenting. Throughout the two-episode premiere, Leah, 7, went back and forth between her parents, saying she both didn’t like spending time with her mom who was “always sleeping” and telling her mom that her dad, Gary Shirley, wasn’t with her on a family trip to Disney.
“Sounds like someone has been in Leahs ear..hmmm,” Portwood, 25, began while live-tweeting the premiere.
When one fan asked if Leah’s comments about Portwood were true, the reality star replied, “absolutely not…it was Gary saying things to her and she told me. Since then I’ve confronted him and it has stopped.”
But that explanation wasn’t enough for Portwood, who received several more negative comments from fans. She then started publicly calling out her ex Shirley, asking him to tell the truth about parenting their daughter.
“@ItsGaryTime tell everyone what you were saying to Leah behind my back Gary..we’ll just let it come out in this season,” she tweeted. “@ItsGaryTime how she said the ‘shadow’ told her to say that?? Hmm..horrible.”
When Shirley, 29, didn’t reply, Portwood continued, writing, “I never got to see Leah then…this just breaks my heart to hear the things she’s saying…She was spending all week away from me..I just have never heard her say anything like that..just confused and terribly heart broken. I’m just baffled..at a loss for words. It’s so confusing seeing this for the first time. She was always sad to leave me and so happy when we were together.so strange..heart broken.”
The now-engaged star wrapped up her rant by focusing on what is most important.
“No matter what happened back then me and Leah are in a great place now and I will never stop fighting for her until the day I die,” she wrote.
But Portwood wasn’t the only one calling out others online. Her costar Catelynn Lowell also threw a subtle diss at Farrah Abraham, who she has been fighting with for years.
When Abraham, 24, went on a disastrous dinner date with her ex Simon Saran, the pair ended up yelling at each other, and the single mother stormed out.
Lowell, 23, quickly picked sides, tweeting, “I agree with @SimonSaran.”
Saran didn’t engage with Abraham’s costar but did tweet before the show aired, “Who’s ready for the puppet show? #mtv. Everyone puts their game face on when the cameras are rolling. #puppetshow.”
So far, neither Shirley nor Abraham has responded online.
