Three Stooges is officially getting a sequel, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Friday, May 8. Fans of the 2012 comedy — an update on the classic 1930s film characters — will be happy to learn that Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos, and Will Sasso will also be back to reprise their roles as Larry, Moe, and Curly!

According to THR, Cameron Fay in on board to write the script and a to-be determined action star is being added to the cast this time around. (Tom Cruise? Daniel Craig? The Rock!?)

"With Sean, Chris and Will back as our Stooges, and Cameron writing, this next film will be a truly unique blend of fast paced action with the hilarious mayhem of The Three Stooges," C3 Entertainment CEO Earl Benjamin said in a statement.

The Exchange CEO Brian O’Shea added: "The Three Stooges is an incredibly powerful brand, I am looking forward to giving the independent distributors the opportunity to participate in this commercial phenomenon."

News of the upcoming flick quickly began to trend on social media Friday. After all, 2012's The Three Stooges earned nearly $55 million worldwide at the box office.

The Three Stooges 2 hits theaters in 2017.
