Nearly a decade after a female jogger dubbed “The Mad Pooper” captivated one Colorado town, TLC is ready to get to the bottom of the messy mystery in a new TV special.
Us can exclusively reveal the network will premiere a new two-hour special appropriately titled The Mad Pooper, which will allow viewers to dive headfirst into the bizarre true story that left an entire community searching for answers and asking one simple question: why?
“A poop bandit is on the loose,” a participant in TLC’s new trailer states. “A lady is pooping on people’s lawns. She was defecating in the front yard over and over again.”
The possible crime spree started causing a negative impact on the local community, and the worst part is that police and law enforcement couldn’t catch her.
“This situation literally caused a s*** storm,” another individual states in the preview.
Through archival news coverage, firsthand accounts from stunned residents and interviews with former law enforcement officials, The Mad Pooper hopes to examine the case that became an unlikely pop culture phenomenon.
“Every poop was a potential crime,” Colorado journalist Sean Beetle says in the preview. “A sort of fecal Me Too movement in Colorado Springs.”

As twists and turns arise, new clues will come to light and fresh voices – including a fecal expert and “victim of the mad pooper” — will help find the truth behind this strange behavior.
“Was it an inside job? There’s a possibility here for sure,” one participant says.
At one point, Bettle thinks he may have found the suspect when he points out, “The suspect’s WhatsUp Profile has this phrase: ‘Anyone who talks behind my back is in a good position to kiss my ass.’”

Equal parts jaw-dropping, hilarious and genuinely perplexing, The Mad Pooper aims to dig up the dirt on the case that captivated a quiet neighborhood that wasn’t used to so much attention.
According to reports, the Colorado Springs Police Department investigated the case after the unidentified woman caused a real stink in the community, noting that the suspect faced potential charges of public defecation and indecent exposure.
Despite national media attention — including a viral offer from Charmin of a year’s supply of toilet paper if she turned herself in — the woman has yet to be publicly identified or arrested.
“It’s abnormal, it’s not something I’ve seen in my career,” Sgt. Johnathan Sharketti previously told WUSA9 in September 2017. “For someone to repeatedly do such a thing … it’s uncharted territory for me.”
The Mad Pooper premieres on TLC Thursday, November 19, at 8 p.m. ET.
