Get ready for all that jazz! Many Broadway stars are waking up to good news as the 71st annual Tony Award nominations were announced live on Tuesday, May 2. Watch the video above!
Jane Krakowski and Hamilton’s Christopher Jackson revealed the honors from the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center in Manhattan at 8:30 a.m. ET.
So, who was recognized for their stage work? As to be expected, new hit Dear Evan Hansen has been nominated for Best Musical. The production, which stars Ben Platt (nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical), will go against Come From Away, Groundhog Day and Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812.
Bette Midler is also in the running for gold. The Hello, Dolly! star was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, along with War Paint’s Patti Lupone and Christine Ebersole, Miss Saigon’s Eva Noblezada and The Great Comet’s Denee Benton.
The 2017 Tony Awards will be hosted by Kevin Spacey and air from Radio City Music Hall on CBS on Sunday, June 11.
