Bacon, anyone? During a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Viola Davis recalled the time Suicide Squad costar Jared Leto completely freaked her out. The Oscar-winning actor, who plays The Joker in the upcoming film, would send “horrific gifts” to Davis and their costars — deceased and live animals included.
“The Joker, he did some bad things,” Davis, 50, said of Leto, 44. “He had a henchman who would come into the rehearsal room and the henchman came in with a dead pig and plopped it on the table and then walked out, and that was our introduction into Jared Leto,” the Emmy-winner recalled, laughing.
“Now I’m terrified, just as a person, thinking, ’Is he crazy?’ but the second part was, ‘Oh, s—t! I’ve got to have my stuff together … talk about commitment!”
The Emmy winner, who plays the sinister Amanda Waller in the movie, said that Leto also sent star Margot Robbie — who is playing Harley Quinn — a black rat. “It was still alive in a box,” she recalled. “She screamed and then she kept it.”
Davis’ character is responsible for bringing together the squad, which also includes Will Smith’s character, Deadshot.
Suicide Squad hits theaters August 5.
