CBS is breaking viewership records with shows such as Justin Hartley‘s Tracker and the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals — but the network is also saying goodbye to a handful of shows in 2026.
Before releasing its schedule for fall 2026, CBS confirmed there would be some absences with Ghosts, Matlock and NCIS: Sydney having their premieres moved to midseason 2027. They will join the new show Einstein, which is finally premiering in 2027 as well.
The network also said goodbye to several shows after The Late Show With Stephen Colbert came to a controversial end. Watson and DMW were some of the other programs to not make the cut as CBS expanded its programming with new shows including NCIS: New York, Cupertino and Eternally Yours.

‘The Late Show With Stephen Colbert’
CBS announced in July 2025 that The Late Show would end, which sparked immediate backlash. Network executives then released a statement addressing their decision, claiming it was not “related in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount” but was instead due to finances.
Colbert broke his silence about the shocking cancellation at the time.
“Before we start the show I want to let you know something that I found out just last night. Next year will be our last season,” he announced during a taping in July 2025 as the audience booed. “I share your feelings. It’s not just the end of our show, but it’s the end of The Late Show on CBS. I’m not being replaced. This is all just going away.”
He continued: “I do want to say that the folks at CBS have been great partners. … And I’m grateful to the audience, you, who have joined us every night, in here, out there and all around the world.”
The show aired its final episode in May 2026.
‘The Neighborhood’
The Neighborhood premiered in 2018 and followed a white Midwestern family adjusting after moving into a predominantly Black neighborhood in California. CBS confirmed in 2025 that The Neighborhood was renewed for an eighth and final season, which concluded in May 2026.
‘Watson’
CBS network president Amy Reisenbach previously addressed the decision to not renew Watson for season v3.
“Morris Chestnut is maybe one of the greatest No. 1’s I’ve ever dealt with,” she said in an April 2026 statement. “But, you know, it’s a high bar on CBS. We aggregate all the numbers, and we have to make those tough decisions in order to make room for new shows.”
‘DMV’
The comedy also concluded in May 2026 alongside Watson after airing one season on CBS.
