Summer, summer, summertime! Fresh Prince fans in Las Vegas got a special treat this weekend when Will Smith reunited with DJ Jazzy Jeff for a special performance at the Palms Casino Resort pool party on Friday, Aug. 15.
The 45-year-old Hancock actor took to his Facebook page this weekend to share a photo of their reunion, writing, “In Vegas at a pool party with Jazzy. This dude is RIDICULOUS on the tables!!!!! STILL.”
As seen in video obtained by TMZ, Smith was at the event to support his son Trey, 21, a.k.a. DJ AcE. “It’s a great moment for me. DJ AcE is my son,” he told the crowd, before also giving a shout-out to his former hip-hop collaborator.
“It’s been a minute since I’ve seen Jeff,” the rapper said. “When was the last time I saw you? We haven’t been onstage for forever.”
To remedy that, he and Jazz — once known as DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince — launched into a rendition of their hit song “Summertime,” for which they won a Best Rap Performance Grammy in 1992. Halfway through the performance, Smith peeled off his blue T-shirt and did the rest of the number shirtless.
Smith and DJ Jazzy Jeff released five studio albums together between 1987 and 1993, with such memorable hits as “Parents Just Don’t Understand” and “A Nightmare on My Street.” They also costarred on the hit ’90s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air; Smith played the title role, while Jeff (real name: Jeffrey Townes) had a recurring role as his best friend, Jazz.
