A new season of Survivor is almost upon us, and for the all-new castaways competing for the $1 million grand prize, everything is on the table.
Survivor 51 signals the beginning of the “Open Era,” where everything the show has ever done, from twists and idols to format and everything in between, is fair game — not to mention the inevitable new wrinkles production is ready to throw players’ way.
To introduce the “Open Era,” the cast will consist of 21 players for the first time in the show’s history. That could mean anything, including an immediate elimination, the return of exile island or simply three tribes of seven.
Of the 21 castaways, fans will see an executive with the New York Yankees, a livestock farmer, a pro wrestler, an actor and plenty more.
Survivor 51 premieres on Wednesday, September 23, with a two-hour opening episode beginning at 8 p.m. ET. The show will return to its usual 90-minute format the following week. All episodes will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
