A spinoff of Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU premiered on NBC in 1999 and delves into the investigation and prosecution of various crimes in New York by the detectives of the Special Victims Unit (SVU). Some episodes are loosely based around true crimes, and the cases often deal with abuse and sexual assault.

The series stars Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler, Mariska Hargitay as Detective Olivia Benson, Richard Belzer as Detective John Munch, Dann Florek as Captain Donald Cragen and Ice-T as Detective Fin Tutuola.

Season 25 of Law & Order: SVU is set to premiere in 2024.
