Taylor Swift found a way to support famous Swiftie Mariska Hargitay amid her 2026 Emmys hosting gig — in a Law & Order: SVU sketch, no less.
Hargitay, 62, was joined by her Law & Order: SVU costars Ice-T, Peter Scanavino, Kevin Kane and Kelli Giddish for the segment, all portraying their iconic characters in an effort to determine if Swift, 36, would make an appearance during TV’s biggest night.
“The Emmys are tonight, and the mayor’s office is breathing down my neck demanding an answer to the big question: Will Taylor Swift be at the Emmys?” Hargitay said during the skit. “Now, in order to crack a Swifty case, you’ve got to think like a Swifty, because the Swifties think that everything is a clue to what she’ll do next.”
Olivia Benson (Hargitay) pulled out two different crime boards to help solve the mystery, but it was a newcomer at the precinct (played by Swift) who cracked the case wide open.
The singer poked fun at herself by making reference to her cats — one of whom made an appearance on screen as well — before the group decided Swift wouldn’t attend the event, who in the skit (and in real life) decided to attend her husband Travis Kelce‘s first game of the 2026-2027 NFL season.
While Swift wasn’t at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Monday, September 14, she was nominated in five categories for her 2025 concert movie, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour — The Final Show at the Creative Emmys.
“One of the things that I was so impressed by, and the needle [director] Glenn [Weiss] threaded so effortlessly, is that the Eras Tour was such a phenomenon because of so many factors,” Swift told Emmy voters in Los Angeles last month. “One that I know that is really important is that it was a source of great escapism for the people who were there. Glenn and I had conversations about ‘How do we preserve this experience?’”
She continued, “If you lose the feeling of relaxation and freedom for the fans there, then you’ve lost a huge element of what makes this concert experience so special. Glenn created a situation where the fans could be lost in the moment because of the rehearsals that he did with our dancers and me leading into the final show.”
Swift ultimately didn’t score any trophies at this year’s Emmys. Her next big award appearance is scheduled for November when she will return to the CMA Awards for the first time in 10 years.
“LOOKS LIKE I HAVEN’T YEE’D MY LAST HAW THANK YOU CMA!!!! See you there Nov. 18 🤠,” she wrote via Instagram earlier this month after her song “I Knew It, I Knew You” was nominated for Single of the Year.
