The hottest stars on TV are gathering to celebrate the 2026 Emmy Awards on Monday, September 14.
The 78th annual awards show, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, honors the best in primetime programming from June 2025 through the following May. Nominees were officially announced in July, with The Pitt earning more nods than any other show.
Ahead of Monday’s ceremony, the hit HBO Max series took home a handful of trophies at the 2026 Creative Arts Emmys on September 5, including Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series, Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics, Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for Ernest Harden Jr.
This year, Emmy winner Mariska Hargitay is taking on a new role as host of the primetime awards show. Though many of her plans for the big night have been kept under wraps, the Law & Order: SVU legend confirmed there might be a musical moment involved.
“Those rumors are true,” Hargitay told USA Today, hinting that she wouldn’t be giving away any “spoilers” before the show. “I’ll never tell you. But it’s going to be more song than dance. I just want to be clear on that.”
