As Gisele Bündchen was figuring out whether to end her marriage to Tom Brady, the supermodel consulted the celestial bodies for guidance.
“Tom was FaceTiming with Gisele during the day between meetings, just checking in to see if she needed anything,” a source told journalist Lars Anderson for his book Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness, out now. “These were normal conversations, and she seemed happy. Then one day, Gisele, who is really into astrology, basically looked into the stars and told Tom, ‘We’re not compatible.’ And just like that, she was done.”
The source continued, “But what triggered that? Was it the years of feeling like she wasn’t his top priority? That he kept playing when she’d asked him to step away? Maybe. Or was there a particular spiritual adviser telling her, ‘Hey, this relationship is bad for you. Get out of it now. Even the stars are telling you that.’ One thing is certain: In no way, shape or form was this a normal marital breakdown.”
For the record, Brady, 49, is a Leo and Bündchen, 46, is a Cancer. Us has reached out to both parties for comment.
Another source told Anderson that Brady thought about shutting down his football life in a last-ditch effort to save his marriage, but ultimately, “it sure as hell looked like a lost cause anyway.”
Bündchen filed for divorce from Brady in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. The couple share son Benjamin, 16, and daughter Vivian, 13. (Brady also shares son Jack, 19, with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.)
Anderson exclusively told Us Bündchen’s influence on Brady was immediately apparent in all aspects of the NFL quarterback’s life when they got married in 2009.
“His diet comes from Gisele, the way he dresses comes from Gisele,” Anderson explained. “You have to remember, she was a far more worldly person than Tom. She speaks six languages. Tom didn’t take the time to learn Portuguese, her native tongue.”
The author added, “She opened his world in ways that he never could have fathomed. I know a lot of his friends were like, ‘Oh s***. Tom is stepping into something he may not be ready for.’ He was already famous, obviously. But to become arguably the most famous married couple in the world is tough. It’s really tough.”
