NFL insider Dianna Russini’s husband might have played a role in her getting caught with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, according to a popular sports talk radio host.

“Stillman & Co.” host Jared Stillman spoke to a source who said, “It was a private investigator that took the photos of Dianna and Vrabel.”

The source told Stillman that the alleged investigator was “without question” hired by Russini’s husband, Kevin Goldschmidt

“I’m not saying Dianna believes this,” Stillman explained. “I’m not saying Dianna told the source. I’m just telling you this is a source close to Dianna.”

He added, “The husband has a bunch of money and this is not about money. Because he has plenty of it.”

Goldschmidt has been the vice president of total rewards and HR technology at Shake Shack since February 2025, according to his LinkedIn. He and Russini, 43, have been married since 2020 and share sons Michael, 4, and Joey, 3.

Us Weekly has reached out to Goldschmidt and Russini for comment.

Russini and Vrabel, 50, were spotted together in photos published by Page Six on April 7. In the pictures, which were taken at a luxury resort in Sedona, Arizona, last month, the pair can be seen interlocking their hands, sunbathing by the pool and sharing a hot tub.

Both Russini and Vrabel have denied having a romantic relationship.

Russini announced she had resigned from her job at The Athletic on Tuesday, April 14.

“I have covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout my career, and I stand behind every story I have ever published,” Russini said in a written statement shared via social media. “When the Page Six item first appeared, The Athletic supported me unequivocally, expressed confidence in my work and pride in my journalism. For that I am grateful. In the days that followed, unfortunately, commentators in various media have engaged in self-feeding speculation that is simply unmoored from the facts.”

She continued, “Moreover, this media frenzy is hurtling forward without regard for the review process The Athletic is trying to complete. It continues to escalate, fueled by repeated leaks, and I have no interest in submitting to a public inquiry that has already caused far more damage than I am willing to accept.”

After initially supporting her account of things, The Athletic announced an investigation had been opened into Russini on Saturday, April 11.

The Athletic is investigating the conduct of a senior NFL. reporter, Dianna Russini, after the publication of photographs that showed her with Mike Vrabel, the head coach for the New England Patriots, according to a person familiar with the inquiry,” the outlet said. “The Athletic’s editorial guidelines require that their journalists avoid any activities that pose a conflict of interest or the appearance of a conflict, so as not to call into question their credibility.”
