Sarah Palin is asking for support during her boyfriend Ron Duguay’s ongoing battle with stage IV colon cancer.
“Prayers for Ron Duguay so appreciated,” Palin, 62, shared via her Instagram Story on Sunday, October 18. The post was accompanied by a photo of the former Alaska governor holding Duguay’s hand in his hospital bed.
In a separate post, Palin shared an inspirational quote alongside a photo of herself looking at Duguay.
Duguay, 69, was diagnosed with colon cancer in December 2024. He played 12 seasons in the NHL from 1977 to 1989, most notably with the New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings.
Palin and Duguay have been dating since 2022.
In an exclusive interview with Us, Duguay’s daughter Shay Thomas explained how Palin has been a pillar of stability throughout her father’s cancer fight.

“She’s been involved and incredibly supportive in my dad’s entire journey,” Thomas said in February. “Their relationship can obviously be challenging because they live long-distance. She’s in Alaska, he’s in Florida. But they have always remained close.”
More recently, Duguay has been receiving treatment at City of Hope in Southern California.

“If we ever need her for something, she would take a red-eye flight on short notice,” Thomas said of Palin. “If we have stuff with our kids and couldn’t make it — for example, my dad had a surgery where they went into his colon and liver — and she stayed with him in the hospital for five days. She’s been a huge source of support. Not only for my dad, but for our entire family.”
She added, “We’re incredibly grateful for her.”
Earlier this month, Thomas hinted that her father’s cancer had taken a turn for the worse.
“I wasn’t planning on posting anything, but I believe in the power of prayer, and right now, we need all the prayers we can get,” Thomas posted via Instagram on October 11. “And I know so many love him so much. Please keep our dad in your prayers.”
The update came less than three months after Duguay was rushed to the hospital after fainting and being found unconscious at his home.
“After extensive testing, doctors found that he was extremely dehydrated and had been struggling to eat because of how sick he had been feeling,” Thomas said at the time. “They also discovered varices, portal hypertensive gastropathy, internal bleeding and an ulcer.”
