UFC fighter Allan Nascimento has died after an apparent heart attack in his sleep. He was 34.
“This morning, Monday, August 3rd, our beloved fighter and exemplary flyweight, Allan Nascimento, was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep,” the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) said in a statement via its website on Monday, August 3.
The statement continued, “Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
According to the UFC, Nascimento was a member of the Chute Boxe Diego Lima team and had a record of 22 wins and seven losses in his mixed martial arts career. 16 of his wins came via submission.
“A fixture on the doorstep of the Top 15, Nascimento was a constant presence alongside his teammates whenever they made the walk, sharing an especially close bond with former lightweight champion and current BMF titleholder Charles Oliveira,” the UFC said in a second statement paying tribute to the fighter.
“Today I lost a brother that the fight game gave me,” Olivieira, 36, wrote via his Instagram Stories on Monday. “Thank you for always being by my side, for sharing the mats and the corner. I have nothing but gratitude for having you with me — in training, in the corner and just hanging out. I love you, man.”
The Chute Boxe Academy also paid tribute to Nascimento on Monday via Instagram. “Today, our team has lost much more than an athlete; we have lost a warrior, a friend, a dedicated competitor, and an extraordinary human being who earned the respect and admiration of everyone privileged enough to know him,” the Brazilian MMA academy shared.
“Allan inspired others both on and off the mats with his determination, humility, respect, and fighting spirit,” the school added. “His absence will be felt profoundly. Rest in peace, Allan. Your name, your story, and your legacy will live on forever through our star ⭐️.”
UFC middleweight fighter Caio Borralho remembered Nascimento in the comments section of the UFC’s Instagram post announcing the late fighter’s death.
“He was one of the most kind fighters that’s I’ve ever met! Polite, good energy and always in good spirits! He will be missed 🙏🏼 RIP! @chuteboxe_sp and his family, stay strong ❤️,” Borralho wrote.
Fellow UFC middleweight Marco Tulio wrote, “You are an example of an athlete and a person, brother! We’ll miss you; your legacy is huge. I’m a fan for life, brother!💔😢🙏”
