Wrestler Max Caster said he holds no ill will against TNA Wrestling after the promotion fired him for using a controversial rap lyric during its Bound for Glory pay-per-view over the weekend.
Caster, 37, is known for dissing his opponents via rap as he walks to the ring. His match with Quinn Ojinnaka, better known as Moose, on Saturday, October 10, was no different. This time, however, he appeared to make light of the ongoing missile attacks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, rapping, “I drop bombs, you don’t even have to fly to Riyadh.”
TNA dropped him on Monday, October 12. Caster released a statement in response the next day.
“I wanna say thank you to [TNA President] Carlos Silva,” he said in a video shared via X. “I talked to him in person. He was very generous, very professional, even after all this stuff happened. And I understand why he did what he did. It’s his show. He’s got to protect TNA, and I went too far for him. So, I want to apologize to him and everybody else in the office. I want to apologize to anyone who vouched for me to get that spot. I feel like I let those people down.”
Caster continued, “For anybody who’s offended, I just want everybody to know that when I do these raps, it’s never to offend people. It’s only to entertain. So, in my mind, it’s entertainment value first. And then if you’re offended by it, that’s your right. So I can’t apologize for anyone being offended, but just know that it’s not my intention to make people upset. If it gets a reaction, I think I did my job.”
He added that he has accepted “the consequences of everything.”
“To anybody who is asking if I’m good, I’m good,” Caster insisted. “I’m just embarrassed how all this happened. You don’t want it to be one match, and then that’s it, you get fired. But again, that’s the reality of the situation. I’m accepting it, and that’s life. And in life, sometimes you’ve got to man up and just accept it and move on.”
TNA also released a statement on Monday when it announced that it had fired Caster.
“During Sunday’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view, insensitive comments were made by Max Caster referencing attacks in Riyadh that killed and injured many people,” the statement read. “Making light of violent attacks is wrong. This should never have made it into the show, and that responsibility is ours. Our thoughts are with the victims, their families and everyone affected. We sincerely apologize.”
The statement continued, “We have removed the segment from replays and our social channels and are taking steps to ensure something like this never happens again. Max Caster will no longer be wrestling for TNA.”
Moose, 42, ultimately defeated Caster.
