Time to get real!
American Eagle Outfitters’ #AerieMan campaign encourages guys with dad bods and buff bods alike to celebrate the skin that they’re in. The younger brother to Aerie (which is a sub-brand of American Eagle Outfitters) takes a page from the OG’s book and rejects retouching in their ads.
Because they’re celebrating real men, Aerie Man opted to use men of all shapes as the faces of their campaign. Doug, Matt, Kelvin and Devon — who are the brand’s first group of male models — give their opinions on retouching, what great style is, what confidence means and so much more in a campaign video posted March 23.
“Being an Aerie man isn’t just about being in your underwear,” Kelvin said. “It’s about being you.”
Swoon. As if that weren’t enough of a reason to watch the commercial, check out the reasons why we’re crushing on this cute quartet.
They’re Such Naturals!
Who needs a couch? Doug, self-proclaimed “health nut,” says that being an Aerie Man helps him feel more free.
They’ll Teach You Some Responsibility
Such a chore: It looks like Matt forgot to tie his robe before going outside to take the trash out. Not that we’re complaining!
It’s a Masterclass in Selfie Confidence
Kelvin, who heads up the body-positive blog Notoriously Dapper, tries on at least four pairs of boxer briefs in the mirror. And had an impromptu photo shoot in said boxer briefs … then stripped them off to indulge in a luxurious bubble bath. It takes a secure man to do all the above.
They Prove That Self-Love Is the Best Love
If you had chiseled abs, rock-hard pecs and cool specs like Matt (who’s an actual model), you’d probably hang your own self-portrait on your wall, too.
Life’s Too Short to Sit the Dance Out!
No partner? No problem! Be like Devon, who had his own internal jam session while clad in marijuana-leaf-print bottoms. “It’s important to feel organic,” he explains. “There’s nothing more manly than that.”
