Though she's known for her trademark beehive and tattoo-covered body, Amy Winehouse doesn't think of herself as a style icon.
"A style, like, what?" the confused singer asks in the November issue of Harper's Bazaar. "No, of course [I'm not]!"
The 27-year-old Brit — who is still working on the followup to 2007's Grammy-winning Back to Black — says her unique sense of style isn't anything to rave about.
"I just dress like I'm an old black man. Sorry!" she explains. "Like I'm an old Jewish black man. I just dress like it's still the '50s."
Winehouse says her style is inspired by jazz musicians like Thelonious Monk, Charlie Mingus and Miles Davis, as well as "rappers that are around right now, like Nas, Busta Rhymes, and Mos Def."
Though she admits she sometimes appears disinterested in fashion, the singer recently collaborated with British designer Fred Perry to create a 17-piece women's line for the fall 2010 season.
"I knew exactly what I wanted. And I love Fred Perry so much," she gushes. "I was honored that they would even [be] like, 'Do you want to come and do a line?' Me? Like, me?"
