Nice bling, Ange!
Angelina Jolie wasn't shy about flashing her new engagement ring from her partner of seven years Brad Pitt when they attended a private art viewing at LACMA Wednesday.
And it's no wonder — not only did a rep for the couple's jeweler explain that Pitt was heavily involved with the design process from start to finish, but it also packs some serious weight!
"Emerald cut diamonds have fewer facets so they're don't have the sparkle of other cuts, but that also means that they need to be the best quality," jewelry expert Michael O'Connor tells Us Weekly of the center stone, which is approximately seven carats. "The light returned from a diamond like this is pure and white. Since Brad and Angelina always choose elements that are deeply symbolic and emotional, it's no doubt that Brad chose a platinum setting to symbolize a love that will never fade, since this ring will become a piece of heirloom jewelry."
"I would estimate this ring to cost $500,000," O'Connor adds of the jewel, which boasts a total of 16 caracts, and its giant price tag.
The bauble's designer, Robert Procop, is the talent behind the limited-edition "The Style of Jolie" jewelry collection, which he and Jolie collaborated on and auctioned off in 2011 for charity.
Both Pitt, 48, and Jolie, 36, have donned Procop's creations on the red carpet — in fact, the Moneyball actor wore his diamond dress set (buttons, cufflinks and a ring) to the 2012 Oscars in February.
