Hair today, gone tomorrow — that's the lesson Cameron Diaz learned when a pal lopped off several inches from her hair in December 2011.
Just before Christmas, the What to Expect When You're Expecting star visited a female friend's house for a quick trim. "She was leaving to go away for Christmas with her family, it was 10:00 at night and we were trying to just get it in," Diaz explained on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno Tuesday. "There was a little misunderstanding. I said I just want a little bit cut off and it went from here to here."
The leggy blonde actress — who wore a Stella McCartney skirt — said "it was one of those moments" where she couldn't help but "burst into tears. I started crying. I felt so vulnerable. For a woman to all of a sudden have no hair . . . oh my God!"
Diaz, 39, joked that she "yelled" and "screamed" at her pal, who "felt really bad" about chopping off her long blonde locks. "She started crying. I started crying. A couple other people started crying. I ended up writing her a few e-mails over the next few days assuring her I was OK."
The single actress also revealed she's "so looking forward" to turning 40 this August. "I love getting older," Diaz explained. "I love having wisdom, learning about myself and knowing myself better. I used to ask my grandparents all the things I wanted to know because they had the experience. Now kids just Google! It's making grandparents obsolete."
